Haute Couture 2026: make-up tips to steal from the catwalks

Radiant skin, rosy blushes and subtly contrasted eyes: at the 2026 Haute Couture shows, make-up makes its mark with precision and sensitivity. Discreet yet never understated, it complements the silhouette without dominating it. A breakdown of the beauty trends that defined Paris Fashion Week.

In Haute Couture, make-up does not seek an immediate impact. It forms part of an overall vision, conceived in constant dialogue with the clothing, the hairstyle and the staging. Season after season, it acts as a revealer: of materials, volumes, but also of emotion.

For the Haute Couture 2026 season, the houses favoured a measured and refined approach to beauty. The make-up seen this week in Paris stands out for its controlled restraint: skin taken to the fore, precise touches of colour, and a subtle balance between naturalness and intensity. More than ever, couture beauty is built on detail, light and intention.

The reign of the glowy complexion

In 2026, couture make-up begins, and sometimes ends, with the skin. Complexions are luminous, fresh, almost translucent. No heavy coverage, no frozen effect: the skin lives, breathes and captures the light.

This trend was clearly evident at Dior, Chanel, Zuhair Murad, Schiaparelli and many others, where the glow is built up in thin layers, using hydrating textures and satin finishes. The skin appears natural yet enhanced, without excess. Luminous complexions were also seen at Armani Privé and Elie Saab, accompanying elegant and sophisticated silhouettes, where beauty complements the garment without detracting from it.

Pink blush: emotion at the heart of the face

A bright pink, sometimes verging on lilac, it is applied generously, often high on the cheekbones, to bring freshness and vitality.

At Dior, pink blush is particularly striking, paired with wigs and highly structured hairstyles. It becomes a focal point of emotion on the face, contrasting with the rigour of the hair styling.

This use of pink was also seen at Armani Privé, in a more subtle and sophisticated version, always complementing a luminous complexion. Conversely, at Viktor & Rolf, the blush takes on a more assertive, almost 80s-inspired look, with high, pronounced application on the cheekbones, evoking an expressive and deliberately stylised femininity.

The eyes: between neutrality and intensity

Whilst the base of the make-up remains deliberately natural, the eyes are the focal point of creative intent. More prominent eyeshadows, bold placements, reimagined smoky eyes: the eyes become a visual anchor, without ever disrupting the harmony of the look.

This contrast, luminous skin and more defined eyes, was particularly evident at Schiaparelli, where the intensified eyes reinforce the dramatic and sculptural dimension of the silhouettes.

Elaborate eye looks were also seen at Armani Privé, in a more sophisticated and subtle version, as well as at Ronald van der Kemp and Rahul Mishra, where the eyes complemented silhouettes rich in fabrics and details, without being overbearing.

Lipstick: a subtle accent

When it comes to lips, the 2026 Haute Couture season favours restraint, with a few bolder accents depending on the house. Lipsticks do not seek to dominate: they act as a balancing point on the face.

At Ronald van der Kemp, the mouth becomes a graphic element, structuring the make-up without overshadowing the rest of the look. The same approach is seen at Juana Martín, where the lips, more defined, interact with strong silhouettes and a highly distinctive aesthetic.

Conversely, many houses opt for very natural lips, almost invisible. This deliberate minimalism was observed at Dior, Elie Saab, Georges Hobeika and Tony Ward. Transparent balms, nude shades, blurred contours: every product has a specific function. Nothing is decorative, nothing is superfluous.

Haute Couture 2026 celebrates a controlled yet sensitive beauty, where make-up and hairstyling interact with the clothing without ever overshadowing it. Radiant skin, rosy blushes, subtly contrasted eyes: every detail is designed to serve a thoroughly elegant vision.
