Since the dawn of time, women have known that hair is not a minor detail. From ancient anointings with sacred oils to hair as an attribute of power – think of Samson, whose strength lay in his locks – hair tells a story of vitality, health and identity. Long before modern cosmetics, civilisations had already understood the essential: taking care of your hair means taking care of yourself. Long relegated to a decorative role, hair is now regaining its central place as our hair care rituals become more similar to those for the skin.
It is precisely here, at the root, both literally and figuratively, that Flora's ambition is anchored. A brand entirely dedicated to hair and scalp, designed as an inseparable duo. ‘The scalp is part of our skin. It is reactive to aggressions and has an ultra-sensitive microbiome. A healthy scalp is the prerequisite for beautiful, vigorous hair,’ says its founder. This biological fact has long been overshadowed by an industry more concerned with immediate shine than lasting health.

Originally from Croatia, Nikolina Kisić Mamić lived in London, New York and Paris before spending many years at L'Oréal. From this international career, she retains a keen understanding of market changes and a sense of frustration. "I was disappointed with the existing hair care ranges. They mask problems instead of solving them. I wanted to combine effectiveness, clean beauty and sensoriality." Creating Flora was a paradigm shift: treating hair as we finally treat skin, with seriousness, precision and respect.
The brand is thus positioned as biological research applied to hair. ‘To have beautiful, healthy and strong hair, you have to work at the root. As with skin, it's about stimulating collagen: this is the principle of hair skinification.’ Flora acts at the stem cell level, supporting collagen production: where it all begins, and works on the overall balance of the scalp.
Two patented complexes form the basis of this approach: FMP5 Biome, dedicated to balancing the microbiome, and FMP10, which acts on the structure of the skin, scalp and hair fibre thanks to biomimetic peptides and high-purity hyaluronic acid.
Flora, a hair care brand with a highly scientific DNA
But at Flora, science is never austere. "Even though our DNA is highly scientific, we are also a deeply sensory brand." At a time when skincare is becoming a space for rejuvenation, the company is establishing itself as a pioneer in Head & Hair Spa, promoting a holistic vision of hair, considered as an asset to be preserved: wellness, longevity, prevention. Each gesture becomes a ritual, combining clinical effectiveness and unapologetic pleasure.
The Hair Spa protocol, developed for the most prestigious hotels, begins with a micro-camera diagnosis. A precise, almost intimate assessment. This is followed by an olfactory journey, signature scalp massages, a quartz comb, and then steam activation using Japanese Hair Spa Mist II technology. Micro-steam opens the cuticles, promotes the penetration of active ingredients and induces a state of deep relaxation. The treatment concludes with a tailor-made prescription, designed to prolong the experience at home.

At home, the ritual continues with the same requirements: cleanse, treat, protect. Sulphate- and paraben-free shampoos, targeted serums, biomimetic fillers, pure active ingredient boosters, heat protection and repair treatments make up an adjustable, precise routine that is never set in stone. And always at hand is the fig mist: alcohol-free, it refreshes, conditions, delicately perfumes and envelops the hair in a soft scent.
For Flora's latest bold move is perhaps the most revealing of its time. ‘We are currently the only haircare brand in the world to have incorporated a Nose into the development of its products.’ Each treatment frequency corresponds to an olfactory journey, designed to evoke an emotion. The formulas are directly scented, without alcohol, as it is not suitable for hair. ‘We can say that we are the first hair perfumers.’

With no store of its own as yet, Flora is already establishing itself in the world of hushed luxury: palaces, Head & Hair Spa corners, iconic department stores. A brand that promises not only beautiful hair, but a new way of thinking about hair care: more intimate, more sustainable, in tune with an era that is rediscovering that life always begins at the root.
