In the middle of Paris Fashion Week, Filippa K's creative director Anna Teurnell revealed the secrets behind her first collection for the label.

Between minimalism, personal aesthetics and a touch of surprise. A little over two weeks ago, while the men's Fashion Week for fall-winter 2025 dominated the capital, Filippa K unveiled its next collection to the press. On this occasion, OniriQ met the woman who, behind the scenes, holds all the strings: creative director Anna Teurnell.

A first collection, one year after, for Anna Teurnell

It takes time to make good products, you can't rush these things!”, she assures us with an amused voice. When we meet her on a rainy Saturday, January 25th, Anna Teurnell seems to be a ray of sunshine in spite of herself. After a warm welcome in her showroom in the 3rd arrondissement, and a warmly accepted offer of coffee, the Swedish designer invites us on a tour of the pieces in her collection for next fall. The first that she has designed entirely for Filippa K.

One initial element intrigues us. Her appointment to Filippa K is not new. In fact, a year earlier (on February 6, 2024), the news had broken that she would succeed Liisa Kessler as creative director. Before joining the ranks of the minimalist fashion house, the latter had already had a number of experiences in the industry. And not the least: creative director at Marimekko, founder (among others) of & Other Stories and chief designer of Arket. Not to mention her own label created in 2021, “Teurn Studios”.

But then, why did Teurnell make us wait almost a year before unveiling her vision of Filippa K? In reality, she had already presented an initial capsule collection in October 2024, but with only about twenty looks. Not much compared to today.

When asked about this, her answer proves to be obvious: “It takes time to make good products, you can't rush these things! First of all, I chose my favorite materials months in advance. Some of them had to be developed, as they simply didn't exist. We also take into account the concept of sustainability, which is dear to me and to the company. I also needed time for us to try on the clothes, to see how they hang, how they hold up, etc. It's a long process!”.

Pieces that celebrate and modernize Filippa K

With this first collection, 100% of her own initiative, Anna Teurnell also unveils her vision of the Filippa K brand, her commitment to it, and the future she has in store for it. When you talk to her about it, the most important thing is the desire to surprise the label's regular customers.

The Filippa K range is mainly known for its high-quality essentials and basics. When I arrived at the creative direction, I wanted to bring a touch of surprise. To renew the Filippa K wardrobe while keeping it authentic. In particular with long silhouettes, strongly defined shoulders, color or even a little cocoon spirit,” she adds.

In putting together her lookbook for fall-winter 2025-2026, the designer and businesswoman wanted to offer pieces that can be worn “from morning to work, through to the evening, with a few transformations”. Silhouette after silhouette, Anna Teurnell has stamped her own DNA with elements that are unexpected and unfamiliar to the Swedish house: red on sweaters and coats, stand-up collars, deep slits, satin ensembles, lace inlays and even shearling.

The entire collection also revolves around a British, Scandinavian and more generally Nordic countries. For example, numerous coats in dull/neutral tones, references to English tailoring and even wraparound jumpsuits. An almost unexpected trend also caught our eye: a sporty inspiration present on some pieces, referring to ballet. Here and there, we see “tight-fitting tops in the style of dancers, long, figure-hugging dresses and cinched cuts”.

When asked about her favorite piece from the FW25 collection, the eyes of the creative director light up and instantly fall on a pair of shoes. A very original model that she developed herself. The base is a simple black mule with a reasonable heel. Its real asset is a black faux fur sole that literally escapes from the shoe. “It's not at all minimalist or conventional. It's a bold choice for Filippa K, but I like it. This pair is very interesting. It has an aura,” concludes Teurnell.

Following this meeting and the discovery of the different pieces in the collection, OniriQ has retained one very important and encouraging thing. Filippa K has definitely embarked on a new journey. Something is happening within the company, something new, almost revitalizing. A new identity for the Filippa K man and woman, which we can't wait to adopt starting next fall.
