OniriQ takes flight: the Amara Hotel in Cyprus

To escape the gray skies of Paris and rediscover warmth and sunshine, OniriQ has settled in at the Amara Hotel in Cyprus. Facing the sea, the new address of the local Stademos group invites guests to relax and unwind, and delights food lovers with its four different culinary concepts.

As I tap away at my keyboard, rain pelts against my window under a gray sky, and I can't help but wonder: how did summer disappear as quickly as it arrived? This year, much to my dismay, September has decided to surprise us with cool temperatures and unexpected rain showers. Between two bouts of colds, I find myself daydreaming of warm sandy beaches and crystal-clear water…

But enough daydreaming.

While my next vacation is still a long way off, the luckiest among you may already have a trip in mind, a getaway to plan, a long weekend to organize... Rather than traveling across the globe (even if, let's face it, we'll never tire of paradise destinations like the Maldives or the Seychelles), and to change from the usual classics like Spain or Italy, how about flying to Cyprus?

Cyprus, an up-and-coming destination

The third largest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus enjoys a unique geographical position that has shaped its rich history, marked by Greek, Turkish, British, and Arab influences. Characterized by hot, dry summers, the island enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate, making it a popular destination all year round, starting with Limassol, the country's second largest city. Surrounded by sandy beaches, ideal for sunbathing or enjoying water sports, it also attracts visitors with its various historical sites such as the medieval castle and the archaeological museum, which houses artifacts dating back to ancient times. Everything you need to combine relaxation and cultural discovery during your stay.

To make the most of the stay, we gladly chose to stay at the Amara Hotel, located near the ancient kingdom of Amathus, a sacred archaeological site. The latest addition to the Stademos hotel group, the hotel has 207 rooms and suites, all with 180-degree views of the sea.

The architecture, designed by experts from SB Architects, David Rockwell Studio, and Wilson Associates, combines contemporary lines and monolithic forms, evoking the cultural riches and landscape of this Mediterranean island. We particularly appreciate the natural light that floods into the rooms through the large bay windows. The shades of sand, blue and teal create a visual harmony reminiscent of the colors of the sea and sky.

The Amara Hotel, a gastronomic reference

In addition to its beach and infinity pools, the hotel also attracts guests with its carefully selected gastronomic concepts and delicious dishes to be enjoyed on site. Food lovers who enjoy a variety of flavors will find a culinary experience unlike any other on the island, with establishments run by renowned chefs.

Starting with the Beefbar, created by Riccardo Giraudo and Thierry Paludeto, which can be found in the most fashionable destinations such as Monaco, Dubai, St. Barths and, more recently, Cyprus at the Amara Hotel (since June 2024). Here you can enjoy prime cuts of beef from the best breeding regions such as Australia, Japan and the United States, in the form of mini burgers and Korean buns with Kobe beef, or filet mignon accompanied by a mouthwatering Beefbar signature sauce.

In the evening, head to Ristorante Locatelli (Michelin-starred in London), under the leadership of chef Giorgio Locatelli. His traditional Italian cuisine, inspired by family recipes, showcases the richness of Italian gastronomy: fried zucchini, homemade tagliatelle with goat ragout and chili pepper, homemade eggplant ravioli with walnuts, basil, and tomato reduction...

For a fresh and light lunch, head to Nerea, a seaside restaurant where fish and seafood take center stage. Facing the beach, you can enjoy Mediterranean-inspired dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients. Red shrimp carpaccio, Greek salad, fish in a salt crust... Simplicity is the order of the day, and that's all you need on a sunny day before returning to relax on your deckchair.

Finally, don't miss Nobu for an exclusive experience. Renowned worldwide, the chef has chosen Cyprus as the tenth of his prestigious destinations. In the subdued atmosphere of Matshusia, you can enjoy contemporary Japanese cuisine with subtle touches of Peruvian flavors. Must-try dishes include miso-marinated salmon, black cod (black cod with miso) and Nobu's famous sashimi.
