Some symbols never fade. Some shapes stand the test of time with the same intensity as on the first day. For Renault, the diamond is one such symbol: a geometric shape that has become a signature, a promise of balance between power, movement and imagination.

And on the occasion of its centenary, Renault is paying tribute to it through a unique exhibition, Dialogues with the Diamond, on display from 31 October until 15 February 2026 at the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence.

From the very first rooms, the hypnotic light of the place takes effect. Here, art and industry have always been in dialogue. Supported by the Renault Fund for Art and Culture, the project is part of a pioneering history that began in the 1960s with the creation of the Renault Collection, when the manufacturer was already collaborating with leading contemporary artists, from Arman to Vasarely, to push the boundaries of creativity.

But this time, the experience takes on a new dimension. For the first time, Victor Vasarely's personal office, preserved in its authenticity at the heart of the Foundation, is open to the public. A rare glimpse into the artist's private world: the work table, models and study notebooks reveal the intimate life of the master of optical art. In this sanctuary of geometry, each object seems to engage in silent dialogue with the Renault diamond, like an echo between two visions of movement.

Renault reconnects with its avant-garde spirit

Sixty years after the birth of the Renault Collection, the brand is reconnecting with this avant-garde spirit by inviting three figures from the contemporary urban and geometric scene: Arthur Dorval, Sébastien Préschoux and Olivier Swiz. Under the artistic direction of curator Karim Boukercha, they reinterpret the rigour and vitality of Vasarely's language in their own way.

In Dorval's work, colours collide and fit together like a living puzzle. Préschoux weaves volumes of taut threads, suspended in the air, drawing invisible architectures;

Swiz, finally, composes with rhythm and line, like a graffiti artist of geometry. Dialogues avec le losange thus goes beyond simple graphic commemoration. It is a reflection on the beauty of French industrial design when it is imbued with artistic imagination. The works of the three artists extend Vasarely's intuition: that of a total art, where technology and emotion intertwine.

Admittedly, the journey remains more contemplative than narrative at times, but the gesture is powerful. By reaffirming its link with contemporary creation, Renault reminds us that innovation, whether mechanical or visual, always stems from the same driving force: curiosity. With Dialogues avec le losange, the manufacturer is not simply celebrating a logo. It is inviting us to rethink what a symbol can be: a window open to movement, light and the future. The Renault diamond is not just a sign. It is a vision and, today more than ever, a living work of art.
